About

Wild Wasteland Designs

Wild Wasteland Designs provides quality handmade accessories and home décor from recycled, reclaimed, found, ethically-sourced, or cruelty-free materials. Our mission is to inspire protection of our beautiful planet through education, conservation, empathy, and dignity.

Our products are created with a variety of materials. While some of these materials may not have been originally produced sustainably, we obtain them conscientiously either second-hand or intercepted from landfill. As available, we work with local and independent artisans to make their hand-crafted materials part of our designs. We encourage you to please recycle, reuse, and support local, sustainable businesses as much as possible while crafting.

A portion of all net profits are donated to environmental and wildlife conservation organizations.

Kelli Michelle, Owner

Kelli has a degree in Music Education and a Masters in Musicology from Texas Tech University, and most of a Ph.D. from The University of Memphis, where she studied ethnomusicology, anthropology, and museum science. She taught music privately and in public schools, and toured nationally as an independent singer/songwriter. She has also worked as a digital commission artist in LGBTQIA+ and niche spaces.

Though she has family passionately involved in forestry and wildlife rehabilitation, her time working for accredited zoological facilities is what she credits most with her devotion to care and conservation of the natural world. In 2022, she received a grant to make equipment upgrades at her current non-profit workplace to reduce paper waste and increase sustainability.

She began crafting at an early age, and has studied artforms such as bookmaking, ceramics, drawing, jewelry making, and fiber arts. She also has a special interest in nail art.

Kelli currently lives in Alabama with her mom, and her very spoiled, rescue guinea pig, Spike.
